SPORTS ROUND-UP: Coach, great game today, but we have to address the elephant in the room, why take out Angie Vaughn after the fumble in the redzone? The ball was recovered. What’s the deal?
COACH RAHEEM: Well, Bob, this is the deal; you stand out there and write about sports because that is what you do. I coach teams, and more importantly I manage the health and well-being of my players. 1,000% we all know that Vaughn wanted to stay out there, regardless of the fumble, that is the kind of competitor that she has grown into. She can shake off a bad play and get right back int the game and put that behind her, but at the end of the day, that same competitive spirit is what gets athletes in trouble. I bet most of you don’t even know that Vaughn wrestled a grueling match in the XWF just last night. I know when my players need a break, even when they don’t know it. Maybe she’ll be upset with my decision, but like I said, she’s a competitor, so she’ll put this behind her and get right back to work.
NORTH CAROLINA TIMES: Vaughn comes out and Cobb hits Anderson for her first touchdown of the season. Probably her first target in several games. Is there a story with this coach?
COACH RAHEEM: Yes, and here it is; we are a team! Cobb stepped in because her number was called and Anderson scored because her number got called. Simple as that! We don’t pick favorites during our games, we go out and we execute the gameplan. I promise you this, no one is more proud of Cobb and Anderson right now than Vaughn.
HURRICANE TIMES: Your wife continues to have ball handling problems, but you continue to put the ball in her hands. You took Angie out after one fumble…WHATSUPWITHTHAT?!
COACH RAHEEM: I am not going to retread what happened with Vaughn. As for Salvatore-Spencer, she lost the handle on a tough hit, and she got back in the saddle and put points on the board. She is our second top scorer for a reason. That being said, she knows that dropping the rock comes with consequences. I’ll be handling that…personally.
SPORTS RAP: It looks like there’s still some heat between Dixon and Cotton; are things between them good? Cuz I smell something rotten!
COACH RAHEEM: I saw what you did there, but let me give it to you straight; trying to stir the pot in my locker room; so you best start pumping the brake! Dixon and Cotton earned their jobs through competition; but they still going hard like it’s an audition! Maybe they don’t like each other, that sucks and I think it’s wrong; but as long as they keep it 100 with one another; we all gonna stay Cincinnati Strong!
NEWS BEAT: Another strong defensive performance. Is it just getting easier for you every week?
Coach Raheem: Absolutely not! It gets harder every week when the opponents are focusing on taking away your strength. All the credit in the world goes to Chase for keeping the D in line and for making sure everyone executes. She’s Defensive Captain for a reason. So, we are going to take this win and savor it, but it’s right back to work tomorrow to get ready for next week.
GO HIT GIRLS!
