Following Boss Fight XIII, as Tatum Momo’a and her team celebrate inside the cage, Kenzi and her own team are met by Francis Alexander Quinn, freelance interviewer. Kenzi is immediately irritated by the presence of the man who is her constant foil in the media, but she chokes back her pride and faces off with her second opponent for the night. For his part, the man known as FAQ remains professional as he conducts the interview.
FAQ:
“I’m standing here with the loser of the fight in a unanimous decision, Kenzi Grey. Kenzi, it seemed that you were largely on your heels for that fight in the cage tonight by the bigger and stronger fighter, despite your ability to go the distance and take this to a decision. What are your thoughts on this very tough loss tonight in Japan?”
Kenzi’s corner team continue to work on the cut on her forehead as she catches her breath and addresses the freelance interviewer’s question.
KENZI GREY:
“First…I want to congratulate Tatum on getting her first win here tonight. Wins don’t come easy for anyone in Union GP, regardless of what they might try to say. When you are in that cage, you are in a world where one mistake can leave you laying or the best game plan in the world can be derailed in seconds. As for my thoughts on this loss, well…it’s a tough one to swallow, especially after my late rally in the third round. I thought I might have had an opening after the judo throw, but Tatum did a fine job of surviving that and staying agressive.”
FAQ:
“You trained in Toronto with Misty DeMeans and HILITEFC last week and two days stretched into three. What part do you think that played in your fight tonight? Was the training not enough or were you not able take away enough in that short span of time?”
Kenzi bristles at the question, but maintains her calm.
KENZI GREY:
“Let me start by saying this; Misty and HILITEFC were great to me and I have to credit them with giving me the tools to even stay in the fight tonight and drive it to a decision. The training in Toronto was tough and while I would have probably benefited from more time with them, the fact of the matter is that they have their own fighters and their own preparation to make. I couldn’t stay in their hair forever when I am actually with a camp of my own, you know?”
FAQ:
“I don’t know everyone’s stats within Union GP, but this is your sixth fight that has gone for every scheduled round and your fourth decision. What do you think that says about you inside the cage?”
Kenzi takes a few moments to consider this before answering.
KENZI GREY:
“I hope that it means that when someone finds themselves standing across from me they know that they are in for a fight. I know my reputation outside of the cage is off-putting for most and they are unsure of how to take this person from television and pro-wrestling stepping into a world filled with people who fight and scrap for a living, but I’m scrappy too! I have probably fought as many rounds in Union GP as anyone who isn’t a champion or main eventing and I am proud of that fact! I might have holes in my game that I still need to plug, but anyone thinking that they are going to come into this business and walk right through me is sadly mistaken. I will learn from this fight, just like I have learned from all the rest and hopefully I can find a way to build on it.”
FAQ:
“This was the last fight on your contract, but it sounds like you are resigning with Union GP. Am I getting the exclusive scoop on that? You dodged that question after your last interview.”
Kenzi nods with a coy grin.
KENZI GREY:
“I guess you got the exclusive there Mr. Quinn. Yeah, I am going to be negotiating with Union for a new contract. Obviously, this loss doesn’t put me in a strong position for big money, but big money has never been the reason for me to be here. Sitting under the learning tree and testing myself against real fighters has always been the goal. My record is not what I would hope it to be, but I think I have created a foundation from which to build on. I am going to work on my game and take the things I have learned over the course of these six fights and see if I can fight my way back up the ranks…whatever it takes, you know?”
FAQ:
“Where can fans see you next?”
Kenzi rubs her forehead and the cut there.
KENZI GREY:
“Probably leaving the Trainer’s room in an hour or so!”
Kenzi laughs, then waves off the joke.
KENZI GREY:
“Hopefully everyone saw the commercial for “Hard Knockers” during the break. I will be featured on that reality show that charts the training and management of our e-LFL team and the upcoming 6th season in the coming weeks. Also, I’ll be in action this Monday night in Pennsylvania for UGWC Chill #7 taking on Hide Yamazaki in a stretcher match! Also, stay tuned for another feature film in the works as well with my friend Roxy Cotton, we are hoping to get that wrapped for CTN and Dark Goddess Productions in the next few weeks! Busy schedule, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!”
FAQ prepares to wrap up the interview, but Kenzi grabs the microphone one last time. Her face wears the battle scars of her confrontation tonight as it fills the frame, but she still manages a smile as she adds a few last shout outs…
KENZI GREY:
“Thank you to Coda for coming out and supporting me tonight! I saw you out there in the crowd girl, and you will never know how much that meant to me! Also, thank you to Misty and HILITEFC for everything! Hide…Johnny Bonecrusher, don’t think I’m too hurt to get in your asses on Monday night…iron sharpens iron bitch!”
“Lastly, to my wife, thank you for all the love and support…I’ll see you real soon after wrapping this promotional video!”
With that, Kenzi and her team were off and the interview ended.
