Interviews Angie Vaughn, aspiring actress and new number one contender to the UGWC World Title!
Francis Alexander Quinn (FAQ): Not only is Angie Vaughn the TALLEST of the #CoolKids, but she is also one of the most driven and decorated inside the squared circle! A native of Vancouver and with (arguably) one of the coolest themes of any professional wrestler on the planet, she is ready to add the title of television actress to her extensive resume!

FAQ: Ms. Vaughn, thank you very much for taking the time to talk to us today. I want to ask you about your big win in UGWC [Unified Global Wrestling Coalition], but first I’d like to ask you about something else you have going on. Namely, your newest title; primetime television actress. Tell us about your new role on “Top Nun.” We understand you’re playing a French pilot.
Angie Vaughn (AV): Candaian [Canadian], axly [actually]! She’s a French-Candaian pilot who’s engaged in this constant and never-ending game of one-upmanship… one-upwomanship [?] in this case… with the protagonist who’s played by Kenzi [Grey-Lacklan]. Sort of ‘anything you can do I can do better’. Of course, being a female pilot means that she’s always had to compete against men, and it wasn’t an easy glass ceiling to break through. The only way she could do that was by not JUST being the best, but by making sure everybody knew and respected her for it. It’s just that even now, she’s never stopped competing or rubbing people’s noses in it. At first it was because she had to, now much of it is just arrogance. It doesn’t make her likeable I guess, but if you know where she came from, it CAN make her relatable, even if Kenzi’s character is the real hero.
FAQ: The scuttlebutt is that it’s a drastic departure from who you are in real life. Can you tell us more?
AV: Scuttle…butt? Why are we resorting to such FOUL lang…
[an assistant quickly walks in and whispers something in Angie’s ear, after which her eyes widen]
AV: Oh, the GOSS [gossip]! Why didn’t you just say so? Well, I’d say both yes and no. I too had to claw my way to the top, fighting against prejudice and trying to convince people who thought I’d never amount to much. But the way we’ve dealt with that struggle is really different. I myself have always tried to stay humble, even after proving hordes of non-believers wrong. Never forget where I came from and why that struggle made me stronger. Blanche [Ms. Vaughn’s character], however, she was on a journey to become one of the very best and she’s enjoyed the success, and has enjoyed proving her superiority over others. So when someone equally skilled came along, she instantly saw them as a rival, someone to put down and grind beneath her heel. I’d never do that! I welcome competition, it keeps me on my toes. Once you think you’re the best, that’s when complacency strikes. Complacency leads to arrogance, and people don’t like that.
FAQ: How will you juggle your wrestling career with the demands of a weekly television show?
AV: Well, there’s a bit of a break right now. Besides, my agent [Edith Seybold] keeps a very tight schedule, making sure I get enough time to train, relax and work. It’s a good balance and keeps me very busy. The days just fly by! But it’s true, you can’t be everywhere doing everything at the same time. Besides, I’ve noticed it does take a toll on your body if you overexert yourself. I’m welcoming the current wrestling break, it’ll allow me to recover, focus on this project a bit, and we’ll see where we go from there. Luckily I have a good agent who keeps track of a lot of things and actually has the guts to say ‘no’ to bookings or business offers. I’m lucky in that regard, even if she does take a pretty big cut from my winnings.
FAQ: Let me switch gears to your recent match at the huge UGWC pay-per-view, Horizons. Are things tense between you and Kenzi after you defeated her to become the #1 contender to the UGWC World Title held by Alan Wallace?
AV: Gosh, I hope not! And I don’t think so? Things were more tense before, but we went out there and put it all out on the line. I just wanted to do right by UGWC, but also by myself. I think Kenzi realizes every wrestler needs that inherent bit of selfishness, the willingness to take an opportunity by the throat and not let go. I did that when I got a shot at the World Championship. Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved to see Kenzi go on and defeat Alan Wallace. But now that task befalls me and I can only hope I do everybody proud, including her.
FAQ: Do you have anything else coming up for fans to follow?
AV: Well, as I said there’s a bit of a break at the moment, but when it’s over I will obvs [obviously] try to regain my ACM [Alianza Campeonato Mexicano] Championship, or at least reassert my position on the upper card. In XWA [Xtreme Wrestling Alliance], Sar [Sarah Selena Grey-Lacklan] and I will try to go for those tag titles even while we defend our respective single’s titles. At Rose City I’ve been drifting a bit since losing the Crown and not doing very well in the LMMCII [Liv Morgan Memorial Cup II], so I’m not sure where I go from there. And at UGWC I will of course try and beat the unbeatable one, at least in big matches. Besides wrestling, there’s always the LFL [Lingerie Football League], and for those who find themselves in Portland, feel free to drop by the Rose Kitty Café and support the local homeless kitties! So yeah, I’ll be very busy. No lack of Vaughnemousness on your screens!
FAQ: Thank you very much for you time Ms. Vaughn. We look forward to seeing you perform in 2019. Enjoy the upcoming holiday season!
