I carved out a little time to drop a few nuggets for you guys while I had a chance…hopefully I can make these a bit more regular in the future!
SPORTSMANSHIP IS AN ANOMALY
I am so proud to have had an opportunity to compete in the e-LFL this season. It has been some of the most fun that I have had in a very long time! I got hooked last season rooting for Missy and Emma Benton and I was desperate to get in and try if for myself, and I haven’t been disappointed. If anyone out there has a chance to join in next season, I highly encourage it! If you are looking to have fun and build friendships with people you might not ordinarily get to work with, there is nothing better! The Hit Girls have been like family to me and I can’t imagine ever having a better group of friends on the field with me, or on the sidelines on our cheer squad! It has been a joy!
Now, to address the elephant in the room, and that is our less than stellar win/loss record. We all knew going into this season that we weren’t going to show up and set the league on fire. Hell, most of us had no idea how to play…and there is at least one person on our team who STILL doesn’t know all the rules…
…looking at you Trixie…
But despite all of that, we have managed to have more fun than any other team, largely due to the fact that we came into this to have a great time, and we have. Despite our terrible record, we have managed to be one of the most talked about teams on social media…outside of our awesome game coverage by CTN that seems to trigger more than a few people, for some reason. There is only one other team in the league that I think has as much fun as us, and that is the Milwaukee Mayhem! The Mayhem and the Hit Girls have pushed the limits when it has come to promoting the e-LFL and our respective franchises. From the start of the season our first meeting was already circled on the calendar as a game that would be highly promoted and a fun watch. Unfortunately our record made the game somewhat less important, but I thought no less fun.
We have had less than sporting interactions with other teams, owners, and players, but I didn’t think we would have that with Milwaukee, but I guess things happen…
I know that not everyone can be a great sportsman and for many winning is all that matters, even at the expense of good will and the sake of the game…but it still baffles me when I see it. I don’t think I have personally attacked anyone in the game to belittle them or their team. I have done my best to be respectful and wish everyone the best of luck. I have had to eat a lot more than my own personal share of humble pie this season, and should I sign on for another, I think I’ll eat a heck of a lot more before I’m done…
…but…for a change, I didn’t have to eat that humble pie, Ms. Carlisle and Ms. Hartman did…
Yeah, my games without an interception was broken by Abby Blake on a great play by the Mayhem. That kinda sucked, but nothing was more satisfying than holding Ms. Carlisle…the woman who spells with numbers to 2 receptions and 7 yards of offense…
…I have no idea what 2 and 7 spell, probably Karma…if you believe in Karma…
Anyway, regardless of the outcome of that game, I still wish The Mayhem the best of luck as they push to the playoffs with their quote/unquote “anomaly” of a loss. I still do wish them the best of luck because I do like and respect their head coach, WL4…despite him describing the game as a cosmic deviation from the norm.
I don’t know what the next three games will hold for The Hit Girls or what changes the off-season will bring, but I am hoping that it won’t take otherworldly gameplay for people to just enjoy the game without the need to be nasty or envious of one another.
Alright folks! That is going to do it for now! I’m off to Maine to enjoy my very first Christmas as my wife’s ancestral homeland! So, until next time, you guys take it easy and I’ll see you all after the holidays…unless I feel the need to blog some more!
