WRAP-UP
“Doctor” Johnny Fever: This is SHOTS FIRED! I’m Johnny Fever and I’ve been on a two week vacation, now the Doctor is back to raise temperatures all over Cincy Nation! How about you Venus?
Venus Flytrap: The only thing better than a Hit Girls win for The Fly, is maxing and relaxing as we all enjoy our bye! But the break is over and it’s back to the important business of making the push to the playoffs!
“Doctor” Johnny Fever: It sure does, and it all gets underway as we host Toronto today to kick off the 4pm games. One game separates us as we all chase a spot in the post season along with The Pride and The Bombshells in the East.
Venus Flytrap: Four teams and apparently only three spots! If you ask me, the pressure falls firmly on the shoulders of Angie Vaughn. She’s been erratic on offense and that is where The Hit Girls have been proven to be weakest. Her inability to consistently find the open receivers is where Toronto is going to focus their efforts today. If she can’t find a way to push us down the field, you might be looking at the team in the East watching the post season from home!
“Doctor” Johnny Fever: I usually don’t agree with you, but you’re absolutely right. The offense needs to have a big day, but I don’t think it’s all on Vaughn’s shoulders. The one thing she has done better than anyone is protect the football and not make rash choices that cost the team in critical moments. I think she needs to continue to do that and they need to pound the football on the ground to finally open up those passing lanes. The question is; will Salvatore-Spencer be in any condition to hit the field today after suffering an injury two weeks ago? We haven’t heard from Coach, so she may be a gametime decision.
Venus Flytrap: Two words: Bonnie Hendrick! I aint worried about the run game as long as Bonnie is out there playing like she did against The Storm. Two rushing touchdowns and she made it look easy! No offense to Coach, but I am kinda hoping Maria is done for the season.
“Doctor” Johnny Fever: That’s a terrible thing to say! Salvatore-Spencer has really improved her play week by week. She leads the team in touchdowns and losing her going into the playoffs would be a huge blow to the morale of The Hit Girls at this critical time in the season.
Venus Flytrap: Well, word on the street is that no one likes Maria and that’s pretty evident by the amount of engagement she has with them. Trust me, if Maria doesn’t suit up today, no one in that locker room will be upset, except Kenzi, since she’ll still have to pay her!
“Doctor” Johnny Fever: Hey, lets talk about a break out player that has been very quiet over the last few games…your best friend, Ryleigh Dixon. She came out a house of fire, actually getting the best of Roxy Cotton as she led all receivers in touchdowns, but now she has gone entire stretches without even getting a catch. Do you have the inside scoop? Is she dealing with an injury?
Venus Flytrap: I’m glad you asked! DIX has had a lot to say about me over the course of the season and I extended an invitation to her to go one on one with me, but as you can see…NOTHING! Just like her gameplay over the latter half of the season, she’s been absent! Now…don’t tell her I said this, but I think she needs to shut her mouth, put on her Gridiron Girdle, and challenge Roxy for those passes for the rest of the season. She needs to wake her ass up and find that fire she had seven weeks ago!
“Doctor” Johnny Fever: I won’t tell her you said it, but I will send a text after the show is over! Look, they say that Defense wins championships and the one thing that Cincy has had in spades is a dominant Defense! At the beginning of the season, Chase was handed the reigns for the Defense and she has made The Hit Squad one of the most feared in the league.
Venus Flytrap: I have struggled to find bad things to say about the Defense, and I have tired! If DIX was the breakout star on Offense early in the season, Katie has been a damn supernova all season long! She has regularly crushed the opposition and has even opened up things for Trixie to do the same. They have fed off one another all season and any team that is looking to take down Cincy has to find a way to neutralize them, but no one has been able to completely solve that puzzle.
“Doctor” Johnny Fever: So, lets get to the predictions. There’s a Frost Warning in Cincy today, how do you think The Hit Girls fare against one of the top teams in the LFL?
Venus Flytrap: With everything I said before, this game really is a toss-up. We need big plays from Angie and we need bigger plays from Roxy and the rest of that receiving core. If Cincy can find a run game early, Angie will be able to find those receivers in the critical moments of the game where the good becomes great.
“Doctor” Johnny Fever: I think this game will come down to our vaunted Defense. If The Hit Squad does what they have been doing to the opposition all season, Toronto will be in for a tough day on the field and a long, solemn flight back up north.
Venus Flytrap: Well, regardless of the outcome, this is one of the biggest games of the day and all eyes are going to be on Hit Girl’s Nation. I can’t wait!
“Doctor” Johnny Fever: That will do it for us, we will see you next time on, SHOTS FIRED!
